Attendance

Daily presence is the most important factor is students’ success at Twin Oaks High School. 

Absences: When it is necessary for a student to miss school, a parent or guardian must contact the TOHS attendance line at (760) 290-2555 x 4 to clear the absence before 9:00 a.m.  If an absence is not excused within 72 hours it is considered truancy.  Three or more absences require a doctor's note.

Consequences for Absenteeism: Students who do not attend school regularly may face progressive discipline procedures, lose freedoms, be at risk of not graduating, and/or be placed on a behavior contract.  Chronic absences may be referred to the School Attendance Review Board (SARB) or the San Diego County Juvenile Court and Community Schools (JCCS).

Leaving Campus During School Hours:

Once arriving on campus, it is the expectation of students to remain at school until afternoon dismissal. If it is deemed necessary for a student to leave campus during school hours, a parent/guardian must contact the office, and the absence must be verified by TOHS office staff.  If a student is excused to leave and then returns to campus, he/she must check in at the office.

 

Asistencia: Asistencia hasta la edad de 18 años es obligatoria por ley.  ¡La asistencia diaria es uno de los factores más importante en el éxito del estudiante en la escuela Twin Oaks!

Ausencias: Cuando un estudiante esté ausente, el padre o tutor debe ponerse en contacto con el personal de la oficina TOHS antes de 9:00 a.m.  Las ausencias deben de ser justificadas en un tiempo de 48 horas o si no la ausencia será considerada falta injustificada.  Si el estudiante está ausente más de tres días, se requiere una nota de doctor. Estudiantes que no asistan a la escuela regularmente enfrentan procedimientos progresivos de disciplina como, pérdida de privilegios, estar a riesgo de graduarse y de ser puesto en un contrato de disciplina.  Algunos casos serán referidos al School Attendance Review Board (SARB) o al sistema de corte juvenil de San Diego (JCCS).

Salidas del Plantel Durante el Día: Después de llegar a la escuela, los estudiantes no pueden salir del plantel antes o durante horario escolar.  Es requerida una verificación (por personal de oficina) del padre o tutor antes de salir del plantel.  Padres o tutores necesitan firmar la salida de sus estudiantes en la hoja diaria de asistencia en la oficina.  Sí el estudiante regresa, él o ella deberán firmar su regreso a la oficina.
